Who Is Ashley Almon?
Ashley Almon is a model, journalist and actress exceeding expectations with ease and detail.
As a model, Ashley is high fashion, glamour, couture and abstract. She has been fighting the industry standards and pushing to break the mold for models with exotic looks and models under the height of 5'8".
As a journalist things have finally gotten extremely interesting. Press by day, Celebrity by night.
Something that has never been done or considered is now literally breaking news. Ashley is kind to her fellow "A listers" and respects their privacy as she knows how prying regular press can be. The one thing Ashley does not respect are 'Industry Losers' which she states in her IMM Magazine February 2009 article: 'I can make you a star'. She is trusted by the 'A listers' because she herself is one, and was one before journalism. She is beginning to shift the focus in journalism from 'Celeb Rumors and dirty secrets' to 'I'm the real deal and here are my experiences. I expose only the industry losers'. So if you're in the industry as a newbie or you're a lifer, her columns will entertain and and advise.
"Becoming an actress was so readily available to me, i just sailed right into it."
Ashley Almon quotes in a May 2008 interview with Maxx Media.
It began when Ashley signed on with Talent Inc; a talent agency based in Calgary, Alberta.
As soon as she was listed, Alison Lockwood, Casting Director, snatched her up and she was put on the set of 'Confessions of a go-go girl'. Her studying the previous week with Peter Skagen at 'Audition Hell' had payed off. Next she was off to study under Casting Director, Deb Green (C.S.A. Brokeback Mountain). Although Ashley had been offered background parts in 'Wild Roses' and other hit t.v. series 'Heartland', Ashley was not able to make the drive of eight hours down to Calgary from her Northern Alberta residence. It was risky
playing the game of breaking even with spent money on travel and the actual job.
As always Ashley started setting her sights higher and dug deeper not depending on her Agent. Battling other actresses for principal roles in a few Toronto feature films, Ashley still benefitted from auditioning. She used her incredible wit and listed every audition she did online on Youtube for the public. With every audition she did she also developed a better understanding for the craft and sought out projects closer to home and without the help of an agent.
Two tedious months passed when Ashley found a casting call online for a short horror film and she immediately applied. However the role had been already cast there was still hope as the Director (Roger Carter, Etips Media) had a future Vampire thriller project he would be working on in the spring of '09. As they began to chat and talk about the Vampire project,
the original role that Ashley applied for was open. Ashley immediately read the script and was intrigued by the film and the breaking of many taboo's in the script. She was offered the part and she did not hesitate to take it. It was the perfect role. And so begins Ashley in Film.
